BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) is an international, non-profit organization that has been active since 1989. It exists in 85 prestigious universities across 30 European countries, built on five core values: improvement, open-mindedness, fun, friendship and flexibility—alongside its mission to support student development. Since 2005, we have been proudly operating under METU's Cultural Affairs Office, organizing a wide range of events including engineering competitions, career days, and international courses. Our work continues at full speed with the same dedication and enthusiasm.
BEST Course is an international event that can be organized by any BEST local group. Together with 22 participants from other local groups, we receive academic-level training on a specific topic for 7-10 days, join cultural and social activities, and build amazing friendships with people from different cultures.
Engineering Day is an engineering competition event organized by BEST Ankara in collaboration with our university's Faculty of Engineering. This event is open to all METU engineering students.
HBEC is a contest where the most successful high schools in Ankara participate. The participants work in teams in two stages: case study and team design. Our judges choose the best teams from each high school, who compete with each other to be the winning team in Ankara.
Held annually by LBG Ankara, tJLT welcomes members from all Turkish LBGs for a 2-night, 3-day training experience. We come together to improve our skills in areas such as PR, HR, FR, and Advanced Training, while also enjoying unforgettable moments and forming strong friendships with participants from all around the country. tJLT is a perfect blend of personal growth, networking, and fun!
Unification Winter School (UWS) is a residential event for BEST members. It is a 3-day event providing our members many soft-skill trainings and strong friendships.
MTA is a soft-skill training event designed to equip all BEST Ankara members with valuable skills that can support their daily lives, their BEST journeys, and their future professional careers. While focusing on personal development, the event also creates a chance to bond with fellow members. In addition to these goals, MTA is open to other METU students, helping us meet potential new members and share the BEST culture with the wider campus community.
Organized every semester right after our welcome meeting, MW is an event where we introduce BEST Ankara to potential new members who want to get to know our community better. During this event, we spend quality time together through coffee breaks, engaging conversations, and fun tasks. It's the perfect opportunity to experience the spirit of BEST and BEST Ankara in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
LGA is the plenary we hold at the end of each semester. During this plenary, we discuss the administrative and financial activities of our society, as well as future plans. It is also when we determine who will take on the board and other important positions for the upcoming term.
EBEC gathers the top engineering students of Europe, the winners from local, national and regional engineering competitions organized by Local BEST Groups. Around 5000 participants join EBEC at their home universities. The winners compete on national or regional levels. Winners of these rounds compete in the final round with teams from whole Europe.
